I'm an experienced solution designer who has been working for large enterprise organisations for over 20 years. I'm experienced in a wide area of technologies ranging all layers of infrastructure and applications.
I started my carreer as a Wintel system engineer at a large Belgian bank. As I was eager to learn and expand my knowledge in different areas I quickly grew into virtualization technologies like Citrix and VMware. Introducing me to the world of Linux based operating systems and infrastructure components like network, storage, Blade servers, and so much more. It was a steep learning curve, bringing a lot of challenges, opportunities and possibilities.
After a little over 10 years, I decided to expand my horizon and made a carreeer swithc to a large Belgian IT provider. It opened up different opportunities in other large enterprises providing me a chance to get to know a different world, outside of finance. My next role as a Technical Architect arrived. I got the opportunity to work in the Netherlands for a large energy company. Providing me an introduction to OT environments and a complete new world opened up. As energy is considered a critical sector, it also involved a lot of security aspects. Combining all these different environments, requirements, technologies and challenges was really my cup of tea. I loved learning! I grabbed every opportunity to expand my knowledge in different technologies. From a Technical Architect I became a Lead Architect and new platforms, applications, and technologies became part of the job.
After 5 years in the Netherlands, a new opportunity challenged me. I was asked to support a large Belgian Energy company in it's consolidation and transition to a unified Multi Utility grid operator for the Belgian market. First I worked as a partner with the company to support them with their outsourcing strategy and offer as much added value as possible. When the contract between my employer and the company ended, the customer requested me to support them from within their own organisation as a solution designer. It was my first role as consultant. With all my experience as outsourcings partner during the past years, I hade a big advantage for the customer. Challenging the new partners, working otwards higher standards, automation and innovation. As a solution designer I am positioned between business and infrastructure. I learned a lot from business and my technical background provided a strong foundation to work together towards the best possible solution for business based on the infrastructural standards and methods we enforced trhougout the company.
